Kaunas Fortress (Lithuanian: Kauno tvirtove) is the remains of a fortress complex in Kaunas, Lithuania.

VI FORTAS
Penkiakampes simetriškos strukturos fortas orientuotas i šiaures rytus. Išsidestes ant Nemuno dešinio slenio šlaito viršutines terasos, miesto kraštovaizdyje atsiskleidžia kaip žalias plotas, medžiais apaugusi neaukšta kalva. Iš paukšcio skrydžio gerai matosi simetriška penkiakampes formos konfiguracija, kuria išryškina griežtos gynybinio griovio linijos. Reljefo formas niveliuoja gynybiniuose grioviuose augantys menkaverciai medžiai bei krumai. Iš pietvakariu puses privažiavima žymi topoliu eile - svarbus kraštovaizdžio akcentas. Forto prieigos iš visu pusiu urbanizuotos, užstatytos menkaverciais pastatais, kas labai trukdo forto aplinkos suvokimui. Beveik pagal visas forto sienas eina svarbus magistraliniai keliai, nuo kuriu, jei ne urbanizacija, fortas butu svarbus kraštovaizdžio akcentas. Dabar VI fortas su ji supancia aplinka vizualiai reikšmingas akcentas yra Baršausko gatveje už posukio išnyrancioje perspektyvoje, bei važiuojant žiedu prie kryžiu kalnelio.

VI FORT
The pentagonal symmetric structure fort oriented towards the northeast. Situated on the top terrace of the slope of the right valley of Nemunas, it unfolds in the city’s landscape as a green area, a small hill overgrown by trees. The symmetric pentagonal shaped configuration, which is highlighted by strict lines of the defensive fosse, can be very clearly seen from a bird’s view. The forms of the relief are leveled by crummy trees and bushes growing in the defensive fosses. The southwest approach is marked by a line of trees – a very important accent of the landscape. The fort’s approaches are urbanized from all sides, built-up by crummy buildings – this greatly interferes with the perception of the fort’s surroundings. There are important main roads in accordance to almost all of the fort’s walls, from which, if it hadn’t been for the urbanization, the fort would be an important accent of the landscape.
