Lottie's Loot - located on Coulsdon common, Surrey. Access should be suitable for Buggies
Coulsdon Common is one of seven City Commons located in the urban fringe of North Surrey and South London. It is owned and managed by the Corporation of London who in the 1870s began securing public and open areas surrounding London in response to their rapid disappearance to make way for the building of new suburban homes etc. As a result, two Acts of Parliament were passed in 1878 that granted the City of London the right to acquire and protect both Epping Forest and land within 25 miles of the City for the recreation and enjoyment of the public. This far-sighted policy was the inspiration behind the later Green Belt movement, designed to protect the countryside around other British cities from urban sprawl.
Parking is available next to the Fox Pub which isn't too bad a place for a pitstop, or in the residential roads nearby (see Waypoints) - the cache location is no more than 10 minutes walk.
The cache is located within part of the ancient woodland of the common (GPS coverage is pretty good though).
If approaching from the Fox Public house, cross the B2030 and take the footpath towards Stiles Hill Road through the Woodland.
Alternativeley if approaching from Stiles Hill Road. Walk East along the South side of the road and follow the footpath at the signpost (picture included in the gallery).
The cache is a 450ml Click Fresh type Tupperware box. It is big enough to hold Travel Bugs/Coins etc. Please feel free to swap items contained as usual. It is hidden about 3ft from the path and covered from view. The actual location should become clearer as you near the co-ordinates.
