Regal View (RLT) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

theconvent: Archiving our NS caches. We had so much fun hiding them; but can not maintain them properly from this distance. Many thanks to our geocaching friends in this wonderful Province for helping us keep them active this long. This will open up the spots for new caches; more fun!

Geocache Description:

A larger regular (camo’d nail bucket) that may be winter friendly depending on the amount of snow on the ground. Please rehook it and rehide as found
Many thanks to Seeking Some Cache for helping keep these caches active. Appreciated more than you might guess :-)

The second hide in our “Roads Less Traveled” series is a potentially winter friendly hide with a great view of Elizabeth Lake from the cache site. The roads here really are less traveled. There are three directions; which you take will depends on your vehicle, and your sense of adventure! Once you get to the “Cul de Sac” waypoint (CDS) the cache is less than a 100 metre mild bushwack. Again, you may want to bring your fishing gear!

First: You can walk in from the coordinates of either turning point, but the better parking will be at the “Route 1” turnoff. From this parking the walk to the cache will be less than 2km in.
Second: If you have a higher clearance vehicle follow “route one” waypoints.
Third: If you are on an ATV/snowmobile &/or are adventuresome you can follow either “route one” or “route two”. Although we did both with the RAV “route two” is the rougher route!

For all routes: Take the Lapland road straight through at the intersection. This is now a dirt/gravel road.

“Route one”
Follow the road to N 44 16. 780 W 064 42.282 (RT1) and turn Right. Follow this road about 0.6km to N 44 16.985 W 064 42.849 (RT 1 Turn 2) and turn Right. Follow this about 0.6 km to N 44 17.307 W 064 42.804 (Park). Park here and take the road that heads NNW. This will be about a 400 meter stroll to a “cul de sac” at N 44 17.434 W 064 43.032. (CDS) From here the cache is about 100 meters, and an easy bushwack down to beautiful Elizabeth Lake.

“Route two”
Follow the road to N44 17.135 W064 42.563 (RT 2 Turn) (there is a faded sign on the right that says “the Purcells”) turn Right here. Be cautious of the bridges and washouts. Take the left hand “road” at both Y intersections and continue on up to the Park (RTPK) coordinates. Park here and take the road that heads NNW. This will be about a 400 meter stroll to a “cul de sac” at N 44 17.434 W 064 43.032. (CDS) From here the cache is about 100 meters, and an easy bushwack down to beautiful Elizabeth Lake.

When hidden cache contained Log Book & Pencil, and some special traders.

FTF Goes to the BLKHAWKS Congratulations!!
