You will be visiting Albemarle's newest city park which is still undergoing development.
The park currently includes three picnic shelters (one with year-round restrooms) available for rental, two floating boat docks, approximately one-half mile of paved walking trail and one mile of non-paved trails, and an amphitheatre that is available for rental for weddings and special events. Fishing in the park lake is permitted year-round (North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission laws on licensing and limits apply), and fishing tackle is available for check-out at the Parks and Recreation office at Rock Creek Park.
Park hours for City Lake Park vary by season, and are posted at the park’s entrance. For more information, contact AP&R at 704.984.9560. Plan to take the sidewalk as far as possible in case the grass hasn't been cut recently.
Note: The cache was once a full ammo can that I won at the Hotdogs in the Park event in Concord back in late August 2008, but someone apparently thought he/she needed the can more than we geocachers did. Since then, we've lost two lock 'n boxes, so we decided to make a major change in the overall cache, hoping that muggles won't be able to locate it so easily.
