Located in Champoeg (pronounced sham-POO-ee) State Park, near Newberg, OR. on the Willamette River. Prior to 1840 "Champooick" was home to the Kalapuya Indians. The town grew to 60 buildings and a population of 200. By 1892, two disasterous floods had completely wiped out the town and it was abandoned.
