Call me Ishmael.
Some years ago--never mind how long precisely--having little or no money in my purse, I set out on an adventure. All men are mystically attracted to the hunt because in it they see the image of the ungraspable phantom of life.
Not that I recall the circumstances which induced me to set about performing the part I did. Chief among these motives was the overwhelming idea of the great piranha itself. Moby Piranha is the last tenant of the waters, the greatest and the last. He is the deep, free sacral consciousness in man.
After arriving in Long Beach, I contracted to serve on the first ship being prepared for voyage, The Baja. It was a noble craft, but somehow a most melancholy ship! All noble things are touched with that.
At dawn, we set sail to be the first to find the creature of great numbers and hides, a creature referred to as Moby Piranha.
The crew was a diverse group. Starmont, the first mate is a careful, good-hearted man. Smooch, the second mate, enjoys the adventure of the hunt. Fedruid, a fierce fisherman, was hired by the captain to lead the hunt. Travail, the fourth mate, spends his days working to be a First Mate. No crew would be complete without faithful laborers and The Baja had two of the best, Bailey and Harley.
We were on the hunt for days before I first encountered the captain on the quarterdeck. Captain Dove, he was a small and feeble man, but there was a determinate, unsurrenderable willfulness in his glance. Whenever Captain Dove appeared on deck, there always seemed to be a number of seagulls nearby. The constant squawking and noise was an ominous sign and was a distraction to the true purpose of the hunt.
As days passed, Captain Dove became maniacally obsessed with being the first to find Moby Piranha. Captain Dove had been close on so many occasions to only discover Moby Piranha had already come, partied and gone.
The sun rose with a dark purpose that fateful day in September. The smell of an epic battle was in the air. Captain Dove bellowed from his quarters, “Today, I will find it!” As the sun traveled its well worn course, the long awaited message echoed from the crow’s nest, “Kosh’s published.”.
To discover the results of this Epic Battle, you will have to locate the cache. Do not remove the bison container. You can sign the log by unscrewing the top and leaving the container attached to the “camo”.
As with the real Moby Dick, there is a gold doubloon nailed to the mast for the First to Find. There is a doubloon for the First Piranha and the First Dove to find.
You can claim your doubloon by walking to the opposite wall from where the cache was found and checking the wooden “mast”.
