Geocache Description:

A straightforward cache, now, but was a bit of a nerve jangler due to Sitting Bull. Alas he seems to have gone to that better place, but the route and cache remain in his memory, and although 24/7, midnight through a graveyard ? – mmmm ! - not us. It is about 2-3miles all on O.S. marked footpaths or pathway. The cache container is a plastic snap-lid box containing a few goodies, plus logbook, and pencil.

I did manage this with my 2 cocker spaniels, Benjie and Millie,

The above co-ordinates are for quiet parking in Mavesyn Ridware, there is some information close by, but you don’t have to enter the churchyard.

Car Park area
• What year did this faithful church worker & school teacher die? A B C D

Follow Church Lane west then as the lane turns 90° right, continue on the limestoned track for about 125yds then left (south) over the old mill stream and towards the railway and the metal bridge spanning the River Trent.

Waypoint 1
• you need the date of this structure E F G H

Continue through the tunnel, turn left, and then over the canal via. bridge 60, then right through the double gate into the churchyard. The footpath takes you to the right of the church, and, (by the footpath) - -

Waypoint 2
• what year did Catherine Anne Downes die ? - the first two numbers. I   J

Go through the gate and new second gate, across the field to the “heath robinson” gate and new gate at the far end about 20yds left of the canal, into the allotment area, stay close to the canal fence. As you reach the far end of the field aim for the push gate by the road. Continue past the Plum Pudding pub.

There is a cottage close by, what sort of view does it have?
Waypoint 3
• how many letters are in this word ? K

Continue on the footpath until the obvious right turn over the canal, and then down to the towpath and a Millenium Way information sign (sadly vandalized).

Waypoint 4
• what decade did the monks leave Hawksyard Priory ? L M N O
This may sadly be unreadable but can be successfully Googled, what decade though.

This gives the final cache position N 52° 44. N (C-6) (K-L) W 001° (K+L) (B-C) . O F (I+J)
