Geocache Description:

Dorchester Union Cemetery, Middlesex County. I set this up in under an hour on my bike so completing it on foot should take a similar time. Most travel will be on gravel paths but you are required to walk on uneven turf so it may not be wheelchair accessible.

Everyone seems to enjoy cemetery caches and I enjoyed "Time's Ticking" so much I decided to borrow the idea, thanks to "teaing" for the inspiration! For the price of admission you get a nice tour of the Dorchester Union Cemetery and get to do some calculations, so bring a notebook and a sharp pencil, and maybe an eraser. All calculations involve the 3 digits to the right of the decimal point unless otherwise specified. Stage 1 will take you to a columbarium where you’ll need to find a few names and dates. First find Bettylou’s birth year and add the first 2 digits to the last 2 digits, then multiply the result by 2. Take the 3 digit result and subtract it from the north coordinate. Now find Joseph V. and take his age at death and add it to the first 2 digits of his birth year. Then subtract the result from the west coordinate. Stage 2 should be a large monument for a surname starting with the letter G. Find John’s age at death and add 1 for good luck. Take the result and add it to the north coordinate. Find Andrew II and take the last 2 digits of his birth year and subtract 1 to get a 2 digit result (hint), subtract the result from the west coordinate. Stage 3 will be a large monument for a surname starting with the letter S. Take Robert’s age at death and add the number of months in his son Frederick’s all too short life, with that number add 14. This 2 digit result will be “A”. Take the number “A” and add it to the north coordinate. Now take the number “A” and add 2, then multiply by 2 [(A+2)x2] to get a 3 digit result. Add that to the west coordinate. This will take you to a final resting area where you will find a nano cache with a log only. Please bring a writing implement, sit a while and ponder what a joy it is to be alive. FTF-congratulations to Chartmaker
