Geocache Description:


If you use your imagination on this one you will have a good time on this wilderness hike! The campground is close by at N33 41.449 W117 52.839. The parking lot may look like it is full but there are plenty of 30 minute parking spaces available. You can easily do this in less than 30 minutes.

Take a short hike from the campground through the pine forest gathering pinecones as you come upon a gentle waterfall. There may be many hikers around. Go off the beaten path for some solitude.

After signing the log I highly recommend that you take an optional safari in search of a lion that is laying in wait. You will find him at N33 41.463 W117 52.809
Find him and he will crack you up! (Note--There is no actual cache here now but you will enjoy it regardless.) The view where he is is quite beautiful and very surprising. Most people have no idea it is there!

If you would like to continue on another optional excursion you will be well rewarded at N33 41.543 W117 52.695 and N33 41.574 W117 5.721. Go there from the lion. I used the walk in gate on the left side or you can look from the bridge. There are some really fantastic waterfalls there. It's worth taking the time to see them.

Pining for Waterfalls was formerly WP1 of "Wilderness Hike and Safari" GC1DJM4. WP2 kept getting muggled so I switched WP1 to a traditional instead. I hope to put another cache near where WP2 was in the future. Stay tuned . . .

6/13 This used to be a pine cone with a nano on it but it is now a more traditional cache container.
