Geocache Description:

"Burkett Mill is a 362 acre preserve owned by Medomak Valley Land Trust (www.medomakvalley.org). It is open to the public year-round for low-impact recreation. Hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing are all encouraged, and hunting is also permitted." We decided to combat our disappointment over the increase of micros in Maine with our favorite type of caching - a nice hide in a nice spot where nature still prevails. We hope you enjoy it as well since for us "This is the way caching should be." How to get there: Take Route 1 to Goshen Road in Waldoboro. Turn onto Goshen Road and follow for several miles until you reach Burkett Mill Road (a dirt road); follow Burkett Mill Road to the preserve parking at N 44 04.654 W 069 19.644. About the cache: This four part multi (three waypoints and a final) will take you on approximately a mile and a half hike. The trail begins to the left just before the parking coordinates (you went past it driving in. Look for the blue trail marker. At each waypoint, you will find coordinates for the next waypoint. There is no need to remove them from place. Good luck! Added on 10/21/11: All the trails are marked with blue blazes and there are a number of side trails so follow the blue blazes and your GPS. After waypoint #3 return to the trail and follow the blue blazes to the final. Be aware that most of the blazes in this area are at ground level on rocks or stumps.
