Geocache Description:

You are looking for a well stocked ammo can filled with goodies placed along a long abandoned closed road.

I have been wanting to put a cache here since we discovered geocaching earlier this year.
Last year, my brother-in-law and sis took us up this way when I had got in my mind to fossil hunt
the mountains. I had no luck with fossils, but found this really awesome place and when we
were thinking up interesting areas to place caches, I knew I wanted to put one here.

There are ribbons of quartz running through these mountains and this place shows that well. When I
first saw it, I had thought all the white marks were drill marks where the mountainsides had been dug out for
the road, but upon closer inspection, I realized it was all quartz crystal. It is really interesting site
and there are quartz pieces all over the ground.

There is ample parking in a huge pull off at the start of where a road used to be.
We placed the cache down a ways on the closed, abandoned old road. The cache is well hidden, so please hide it back
with care. You need to be either tall or limber as the cache is a foot or two above my height,
but TennesseeMe was able to reach up and put it there with ease and our son scurried to add some of
the coverage, so either take someone tall or young and limber with you ;).

Oh, and do use caution. Back when I was fossil hunting with my brother-in-law, we happened upon
my first and only native Tennessee scorpion! While their sting is not deadly, seeing the
little bugger when you lift up a rock might just give you a heart attack!
