Geocache Description:

Remembering…Jim Otto’s BK

During the 1980’s this building was a national burger franchise owned by Jim Otto. Inside was a veritable shrine of NFL memorabilia. The décor included carved helmets of all the professional teams on the seat dividers. We even saw Number 00 himself walking around the restaurant not long after it opened.

Some of the football highlights that were displayed spoke of Otto’s numerous injuries during his football career. These included nearly 40 surgeries, including 28 knee operations (nine of them during his playing career alone), and multiple joint replacements.

Otto had a distinguished record with the NFL. He started in 210 consecutive games, made all-league nine times, and was voted to the Hall of Fame the first year he was eligible. In 1999, he was ranked number 78 on "The Sporting News" Magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Football Players, and is generally recognized as one of the greatest and most durable centers the game of football has ever seen.

And, he made a heck of a good hamburger!
