Geocache Description:

Located off the Fellfoot road with good views (on a nice day!) over to Kirkby Lonsdale

Clarke-the-younger gave me this cache container some time ago and I thought it about time I put it to good use. I am not overly fond of micros but this seemed a most appropriate location for this one. (you will see what we mean when you find it!). The cache is in a sheepfold created by the artist Andy Goldsworthy and makes a nice family walk for all ages.

Goldsworthy started work on his Sheepfolds in 1996 as a Millennium Project, and in producing 100 Sheepfolds across Cumbria by the year 2000, he aimed to create the largest outdoor art project in the world. Eight years on there are over 200 of them, and he's still going. He finds sheepfolds that have been crumbling away, no longer much used, restores them, and also places a sculpture of some kind into most of them. There are 16 sheepfolds off the lane on either side of the Fell road; where there is limited parking at the junction with Fellfoot road. To see more detail about this particular walk go to: (visit link) The cache is definately NOT in the wall. Please use the stile and leave the cache well hidden before you leave the site. Enjoy!
