Every Sunday, our local newspaper has a word jumble puzzle. The puzzle is typically composed of 4 or 5 words, each of which has had its letters jumbled up; you must rearrange each set of letters, to spell out the original words.
Our puzzle will work the same way. The puzzle is made up of 4 jumbled words; you must unscramble the letters, thus spelling the original words.
After unscrambling the words, certain letters in the words will be used in determining the final cache coordinates. During this phase of the puzzle, you will need to map the letters into their corresponding numeric value, as follows: A=0, B=1, ... J=9, K=0, L=1, ...
The final cache coordinates are:
N44 3a.bcd W123 2e.fgh
Here is an example on how the puzzle notation works:
ABYBTO = _ a _ _ d _
The letters in the scrambled word are 'ABYBTO'. Once you have unscrambled the letters, the second letter will be used to calculate 'a' within the final coordinates, while the fifth letter will be used to calculate 'd' within the final coordinates. In this case, the unscrambled word is 'BATBOY', so 'a' = 0 (value of 'A'), while 'd' = 4 (value of 'O'). Hopefully this is clear.
Once you think that you have solved the puzzle, you can check your answer here.
Here are the four scrambled puzzle words:
WOYBOC = a _ b _ _ _
RHMEO = _ _ e h _
EREFZRE = _ g _ _ c _ _
LUGMBLA = d _ f _ _ _ _
The cache is a small lock-n-lock container, which contains a log-only; be sure to bring your own pen or pencil.
This cache is located in the Marys River Park, which is only open from 8:00am - 10:00pm.
Update on 05/18/2012: The final location for this cache has changed, to allow a fellow cacher to place another cache in this general area.
Once you have solved the puzzle and validated your answer using the coordinate checker, be sure to apply the following offsets:
North: -0.154
West: +0.165
Good luck!
