CityTrippin
will start and end at the scenic Brisbane Botanical Gardens, a
great place to relax, catch up, and generally have a good time
against the backdrop of the Brisbane skyline!
Before the event begins,
all players will be given a map and the coordinates of all the
waypoints that have been scattered throughout the city. Some of
these waypoints have to be found in order to complete the game,
others just add to your overall score! Players then have a short
time to plan their route through the city, trying the find the path
that will maximise their final score by ensuring that they find the
most waypoints. Some of these waypoints are actual, physical
containers, and others require players to solve puzzles or gather
information.
Then, it's race time!
Players have a set time limit to find as many waypoints as they
possibly can and get back to the starting point, where their scores
will be calculated and a winner announced!
For fairness, the overall group will be split into two groups:
cyclists and pedestrians. This is so the cyclists will be competing
amoungst themselves, and don't have an advantage over the
pedestrians because of their speed! As such, when posting
notification of your attendance, please also mention whether you
will be riding or walking :) However, this doesn't prevent either
group using public transport if they so desire to get around
quickly!
This is a great
opportunity for cachers to catch up and relax at the end of the
year. The starting point in the Gardens has tables, chairs, shade,
and toilets and a cafe are near by.
It is expected that the
event will begin at 10:00am, with the clock being started at about
10:30am. The event should conclude no later than 1:30pm so everyone
can get back home before peak-hour.
Parking is available at
many spots throughout the city for a fee. However, it is probably
best to catch a train to Roma Street Station and walk towards the
Gardens to save money and the hassle of finding a park!
Alternatively, if you don't want to walk through the city, jump off
the train at South Bank Station and walk across the Goodwill Bridge
onto the QUT campus and then onto the gardens.
