Sorta nel marzo del 1990 sotto gli auspici del Dalai Lama, la Casa del Tibet di Votigno di Canossa (Reggio Emilia) è un Centro culturale senza scopo di lucro (Onlus) ospitato in un antico borgo mediovale, sulle dolci colline reggiane, a pochi chilometri dal Castello di Canossa, luogo, nel 1077, della storica mediazione svolta dalla Contessa Matilde fra Papato e Impero. Scopo del Centro è preservare e far conoscere la millenaria cultura tibetana ed attivare un dialogo fra tutte le culture del mondo. Oltre all'impegno nel campo del dialogo interreligioso e della spiritualità, la Casa del Tibet promuove un sostegno concreto alla popolazione tibetana con aiuti sanitari ed economici destinati ai profughi tibetani in India, specialmente per l'educazione dei bambini. Nel 1991, in occasione dell'anno internazionale del Tibet, la Casa del Tibet ha donato un'ambulanza al Delek Hospital di Dharamsala, la cittadina indiana dove, dal 1959, vivono in esilio il Dalai Lama ed il Governo Tibetano. La stessa iniziativa è stata ripetuta nel 1999, con il dono di una nuova ambulanza allo stesso ospedale. La cerimonia di consegna del mezzo si è tenuta, il 24 ottobre 2000, davanti al nuovo ospedale pediatrico dell'AISPO, finanziato dai fondi italiani a Dharamsala.

The Casa del Tibet (House of Tibet) in Votigno near Canossa in Reggio Emilia was founded in 1990 under the protectorate of the Dalai Lama and the intention is to be a cultural centre without financial interest. It is situated in a medieval village, surrounded by the hills of Reggio Emilia and not far from the Castle of Canossa. The mission of the centre is to bring the millennial Tibetan culture all over the world and to create a dialogue between the cultures. Additionally the Casa del Tibet assists in medical and economic supporting of Tibetan refugees in India, especially in the education of the kids. In 1991, because of the international year of Tibet, the Casa del Tibet has donated an ambulance to Delek Hospital of Dharamsala, the Indian town where live the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile since 1959. In 1999, the same initiative was repeated with the donation of a new ambulance for the same hospital. The transfer ceremony, 24th of October in 2000, was in front of the new hospital of AISPO in Dharamsala, which was financed by Italians.
