This is one of a series of 5 caches put out within the Duryard Valley Park. This area is associated with the University in the north of the city. It was once the hunting land of the Anglo-Saxon kings which was in the manor of Duryard. The name comes from the Anglo-Saxon dear (deer) and geard (fold).
The meadows and woodland is host to a wide range of wildlife which thrives in the quiet valleys. All the roads and tracks within the estate are private but responsible walkers are not prevented from using them. There is some limited parking on the roads/tracks within the estate and also within the University. Note, not all of the tracks are suitable for vehicles. There is a car park at the picnic site at the north eastern side of the valley.
This cache overlooks the north of Exeter and has views to Dartmoor. It is reached from the car park at the picnic site.
