Geocache Description:

Another old and forgotten place. Olde Shawnee Cemetery at Nottingham St. and Mountain Road, Plymouth overlooks the Wyoming Valley from its perch on the knoll of Plymouth Mountain. Incorporated in 1870, the cemetery holds the remains of once prominent citizens for the ancestors of many current Plymouth residents. Many were Welsh and English but other ethnic groups are included. This cemetery speaks of times and people from long ago.
On February 25, 1889 the Powell Squib Mill in Plymouth exploded, killing 10 young woman and destorying the factory that made detonators for dynamite used in the local coal mines. The ten women killed were buried in a mass grave in the Shawnee Cemetery.
Like all old cemeteries many people pass by without even noticing.
Some graves and stones were moved here from the Old Shupps Cemetery on Main Street, Larksville (formally known as Blindtown).
Be sure to stop by the grave of the little school boy. It has been known that the little boy died one cold winter morning on his way to school.
Pencil was included in cache, but bring a pen anyway.
