Geocache Description:

A steep uphill walk at start. Can be muddy in places. Very nice views of the surrounding area, which is steeped in history. The hill itself is famous as the place where kaolin (china clay) was discovered by William Cookworthy circa 1745. The walk is okay for children and dogs, but unsuitable for wheelchairs and buggies. There are a couple of parking bays at the bottom of the hill. The co-ordinates for parking are N 50 07.283 W 005 21.834

Small click/lock box with small pad and pencil. Small swaps include 'First to find' badge, elastic band, pencil sharpener, army men, princess crayons, a rubber and a 'Smiley' badge.

The walk will take you along the top of Tregonning Hill. If you continue walking just past the cache you will see the Preacher's Pit. It is well worth a little wander into the pit, especially to shelter on windy days.

A little way back from the cache is the memorial at the peak of Tregonning Hill (where Fort Pencaire once stood). This memorial is approximately 600ft above sea level and there are spectacular views of the surrounding area. On a clear day you can see St.Michael's Mount, St.Ives and the Goonhilly Satellites.
