This cache is placed with permission from the Kansas City Police Department.

Parking is available at N 39 12.860 W 094.30.200 - This is the end of Shoal Creek Parkway. There is a second parking at N 39.12.813 W094.30.623 - which is where the skate park is. The trail starts form behind the skate park. The hike to the cache is longer than from the end of Shoal Creek Parkway.

In 2008 the KCPD opened a new training facility. The original plan was for a paved trail through a wooded area on the "back side" of the academy. Cost of such a trail prevented this so a group of police officers and community citizens built a wood chip trail and named it Trail of Heros. This cache is to honor those officer's who have died in the line-of-duty as well as the men and women who' hard work and interest in providing a recreational and fitness facility for all citizens of the community to use.

The cache is a traditional ammo box stocked with the traditional Dollar General Store items.

The Kansas City Police Department was created in 1898, and at the time 46 persons made up the department. The fist formal training academy was established in 1944. After several moves the new facility that you will see as you walk this trail was built.
