Seek and ye shall find, but what do you do
after you find it? The Wandering Rainboard is a mythical
path traveled by those seeking novelty and diversification from
P-n-Gs and LPCs.
Stage one is located conveniently to
street parking, and can be a quick stop on your way to Stage Two if
the karma is right.
Stage Two is a challenging placement
that requires some thought about your approach. Be careful when you
are retrieving and replacing the cache, and pass this one by if it
is outside of your comfort zone or do the cache with a limber
friend. At Stage Two you will find a container filled with paper
folding puzzles. Take one with you, reseal the container, and
replace it so it is secure and out of casual view. Send the cache
owner an email if the puzzles in the cache are running low, so they
can be restocked.
Go find a comfortable seat and take a
look at your puzzle. The paper puzzle has been scored and cut so
that it folds along vertical and horizontal lines. You fold the
paper along those lines in different ways until you get a picture
similar to the one shown here, with all parts of the image the
right way up and in view. When it is folded correctly, you can turn
it over and see the six digits for the minute decimal part of the
Stage Three coordinates that will all be oriented the same way. The
"extra" panels end up being folded inside the card. Be gentle and
work slowly since the puzzle is fragile. If you tear your souvenir
copy of the puzzle, feel free to borrow another one from the Stage
Two container, but please replace it after you finish the
cache.
When it is solved correctly you will have
the information you need to find Stage Three, where you will
discover the Rainbow Wand. You will need to learn how to use it to
reveal the location for Stage Four. You will have everything you
need in hand to get the coordinates to appear. After you cast your
spell, return the wand to its chamber, hiding it carefully from
muggle view.
At Stage Four you will find a cache with
a log and an abundance of trade items. Come prepared to trade "even
or up." Please rehide the cache carefully when you finish your
quest to preserve its treasures for other cachers.
Good luck and have fun. Please do not be
overly descriptive in your cache logs about the puzzles themselves,
but feel free to embellish the tales of your journey along the
Wandering Rainboard.
NOTICE: Please be respectful of the posted park hours. If you enter
the park after hours you are trespassing. If you are stopped you
can be ticketed or arrested and will put the future of geocaching
in the parks in jeopardy.
