Geocache Description:

This is the first of a series of three caches around the Foxdale area.
Note: The coordinates for “End of the Line” (GC1G4HX) can be found in the base of the cache.

An easy walk around a small plantation with views of Kionslieu Reservoir. You may see bog Orchids, Dragonflies, Butterflies and even a Ruddy Duck!

The Foxdale area contains the highest village on the Isle of Man, at an altitude of approximately 500 feet (150 metres) above sea level.
The Kionslieu Reservoir is now in private ownership. It was originally built to provide water for the waterwheels at the Foxdale Mines.
This group of mines consists mainly of five mines in a cluster and are part of the Foxdale shear, a highly mineralised zone running East-West from the Elerslie mine in Crosby to the Antimony mine at Niarbyl on the west coast. In all, a total of thirteen mines are related to this area.
The main group of mines were ‘Old Flappy’, ‘Upper Old Foxdale’, ‘Lower Old Foxdale’, ‘Maghies’s’, and the ‘Louisa’. Upper, Lower and Flappys were then joined and operated as one mine.
Prior to the establishment of the railways, ore from Foxdale had to be transported by horse and cart for export from Peel.

The cache is a small lock & lock box containing a few small swaps and a log sheet. Please bring a pen.
