Guam’s history is amazing! Every road, sidewalk, trail, jungle and mountain contains some sort of memorial, architecture and/or artifacts. The Spaniards, the Americans and the Japanese have all left their influence here on the island.
One impact on the island is the frog! There are many different types of frogs that were introduced to Guam.
The most populous frog is the cane toad or in Chamorro called a tot. In 1937 this frog was brought to Guam in hopes to eat the insects and the black garden slug. There body length can reach up to 5 inches, they are poisonous and are not thought to be eaten by the brown tree snake.
Another frog I found to be interesting is the coqui frog. The love song males sing for their mates can reach up to 90 decibels, which is the same noise level as a lawnmower engine. This frog has caused some major problems in the tourist industry in Hawaii because of there chirp.
This hide is our second in Guam. As we planted this we were greeted by many local inhabitants. Some are even guarding the cache for us. As you get closer to the cache watch your feet! Kermit might jump out at the opportunity to meet you and say hello. Flip flops are not recommended.
* 3-way tie!!! Congrats to all three first to finders: Team tarza, brunz backpack, and nana&yaismomma!*
Glad you all enjoyed the cache!
