Geocache Description:

3 months since the last one? Must be time for another CacheWalker bash!

It's Twixmas again - time for some festive antics! We had great fun last year, so we hope you'll join us again (I'm not sure wrighty's walk will be so gentle though!)

Please keep checking back, this is an early listing!!!

08:30 for 09:00 start - CacheWalker Group Walk

Before the event we will be meeting at Tesco in Stow (see Additional Waypoint) for a walk guided by wrighty. We will be taking in some of his brand new Caches - to be released at the event! I suspect this one wont be as gentle as last year's - after all we've had a year to practice our ABH!

The walk will be 6.5 miles, and include 11 new wrighty Caches, plus one of the Kids Trail ones, totalling 12 (so if hitting milestones remember to be at 87 NOT 88!)

This will be the seventh CacheWalker Group Walk, on the first anniversary of our first (very successful) Event.

12:00 - whenever! The Coach & Horses, Ganborough, Nr. Stow on the Wold, Gloucestershire

Hopefully we will have dragged ourselves back from the walk by noon, so it's back to another Donington Breweries (it's the only way we can stop wrighty walking!!!) pub for a well earned lunch (1pm). We'll be in the skittle alley which seats about 40, so note NUMBERS ARE LIMITED please say how many on your log! The pub will be providing us with Beef Stew and Jacket Spuds (just right after a walk!) at £9 for adults and £5 for kids. Veggie option - Jacket Spud & Cheese - £5.

The car park isn't massive, so if you happen to have a 4x4, please park in the overflow car park - we don't want anyone getting stuck in the mud!

Caches

As is traditional, new Caches will be released for the event. There aren't too many Caches in the Stow area yet, but wrighty will rectify that no doubt! We're in Cotswold country, so you are guaranteed lovely footpaths, fantastic views (though we usually miss them as we seem to do them in the dark, rain, fog etc!) and a great hide at the end.

bikermel76 and schnarff will also be hiding a CacheWalker Kids Trail (couple of miles, around 6 Caches) to keep the younger ones entertained as well as a couple of Cache&Dashes in town.

Secret Santa

If you wish to join in please purchase a Geocaching item (that you would want to receive!) for around £5.

On arrival please drop your (wrapped!) gift into Santa Cache's sack, and enter your name slip in the ammo can! Each present will be selected by Santa Cache and a recipient's name drawn from the Ammo can! PLEASE DO NOT ENTER YOUR NAME IN THE DRAW IF YOU DO NOT GIVE A GIFT, we don't want any disappointments at Christmas time!

GeoDog Secret SantaPaws

If you wish to join in please purchase a doggy item (that your GeoDog would want to receive!) for around £2.

On arrival please drop your (wrapped!) gift into Kai's bed, and enter your GeoDog's name slip in Kai's bowl! Each present will be selected by Santa Cache and a doggy name drawn from the bowl!

Note on GeoDogs:
GeoDogs are welcome in the pub, HOWEVER they do have hens in the garden, so PLEASE keep your dog on a lead if they're not hen-trained! (Trust me, the dog will come off worst physically, but the hen will probably get scared to death!) Kai will be pleased to teach any other dogs about hens, she has the misfortune of living with 5!

Other Stuff

Awards - It's time to lower the checkered flag on the 2008 CacheWalker SuperBike Challenge and declare this season's winners. Also an opportunity for anyone to join us for next year's race. The counters will be reset and maybe, just maybe, the rules will also be changing...
There may well be other awards too...
Competitions - There will be a caption competition plus a quiz to keep you entertained. (Best bring a calculator...)
Coin & TB swapping and spotting as usual
Bran Tub - There will be an adults' and a kids' Micro Bran Tub - everyone's a winner (if you like hiding micros :D) with some holding better goodies than others!
Games - I'll have the FTF and GeoClues games
Kids - Colouring and a quiz for the kids
Skittles - The skittle alley is big enough for us to eat AND play, so wrighty will be marshalling us into action!

CacheWalker

OK, OK, I know. You newbies are wondering what the heck CacheWalker is, right? Well, we're just a group of local (Glos, Worcs, Warwicks mainly) Cachers who enjoy walking, and we have a forum to chat about Caching and walks. We sometimes get together to go out Caching too. Caching groups seem to be more popular in America than here, but since we all enjoy walking to Caches more than most, it seemed sensible to share walks, routes, Caches etc. It's also home to the ever-growing SideTracked series.

Disclaimer: Please remember that walking can be a dangerous activity and all walks are undertaken entirely at your own risk. It is each walker's responsibility to ensure that the walk and the
weather conditions are within their capabilities. CacheWalker, its
Managers and Members accept no liability for any injuries, loss or damage that occur during the walk or the event.
