Hinton Parva is located in rural surroundings in the parish of Bishopstone, approximately 5 miles south-east of Swindon. The village consists of several clusters of buildings dispersed along a mile-long stretch of the B4507 between Wanborough and Bishopstone. It is situated at the foot of the chalk scarp of the North Wessex Downs. There are several interesting buildings in the hamlet including the 17th century Hinton Manor House which was a Roundhead headquarters during the English Civil War. There is also the 12th century Norman church of St Swithun as well as several 18th century dwellings. The above co-ordinates are for suggested parking. (Long brick wall by The Old Rectory). Head back towards T- Junction with large tree in the middle. These gates and wall were restored in memory of Sheila Kingsmill. Last two digits in final date = AB Turn right at T Junction. Number of letter "L" on oval house plaque (placed in tree) = C How many number ones appear in the Mission Hall date? = D Follow footpath across field. At the end of the footpath, how many horseshoes can be seen on adjacent house = E Turn right along lane. How many red rectangles are there? = F (A two digit number) Cache Location – N 51. 33. (A-B-D) (B-E) (D+E) W001. 40. (D-C) (B-C) (F-B-E) If you wish to attempt “The Coombes” geocaches we suggest moving to recommended parking co-ordinates. Local roads have few pavements or grass verges to walk on.
