Olde Twenty-Eight Traditional Cache

The coordinates are for a section on Old Route 28 that was abandoned when the highway was upgraded in the 60's. There are many of these segments around, some are still active side roads, some are parking areas, some are driveways and some (like this section) are slowly returning to nature. If you have high enough ground clearance, you can almost drive up to the. However, the mudslides and overgrowth are trying to reclaim the area, so you might want to walk the last bit.
When my son was younger he loved to stop here and hike the road. There used to be an active beaver lodge (until the NYS DOT cleared the dam) and other wildlife to find.
My son would look for bugs and frogs. I would look at the road and think about the history that used to travel it. When I look at the workmanship I am amazed at at how well they did things in the old days. Kids from this area would travel a road like this all the way to Kingston for High School back in the 'old' days.
Take a quick break, relax and think how the world was back when they built this section of road.
Cache is a micro - no room for trade items and be sure to bring your own pen/pencil.
Warning - recent power company clearing of right of way has left many clippings I suspect of being poison ivy - take care!
Update - If your log has been deleted it is because I've checked the log and if you didn't sign the real log you don't get credit. Finding the 'fake' hides with hints do not count!
OK - This cache once had 3 'fake' caches to let the cacher know they were close. But is seems a bunch of you didn't read and signed the piece of paper in a 'fake' small sized container that said "Do I look like a micro? Keep Looking" To avoid confusion I have removed the fakes. Please note - cache is a micro and only holds a log.
I have increase the rating for this cache now that the fake cache hints are gone. Good Luck!
