How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

A large Cache that hopes to breed other caches.

A place to rest a TBs and Geocoins weary head.

THE MOTHER NEST

The "Mother Nest" contains prepared caches that are ready to leave home and start their own lives.

The idea is that visitors to the cache are asked to do one of the following:

1. Take a prepared cache and set it up in a new location.
There are no parametres to the setting of a new cache and you are welcome to set any sort of cache (traditional, mystery, multi, etc.), you can also make up a new container and just use the paper work provided.
If you are new to Geocaching or have not set up a cache before, it is relatively easy and instructions can be found by clicking on Hiding Your First Cache

We would appreciate it if you would consider:
  • placing a link from your new cache back to the Mother Nest by either HTML or just putting a note to GC1G725 in the listing
  • putting "Chick" somewhere in the title of your new cache
However, please tell us the GC# of the new cache, so we can update this listing and see how many chicks have fledged.

2. Take a prepared cache and leave it intact in another cache, so someone else might do #1.

3. Take the instructions and set up a new nest, so the Mother Nest can become a Grandmother.
Please tell us the GC#, so we can update the listing and see how the family is growing.

We originaly set 20 "chick" caches, and will top up if needed.

THE HOTEL
We also felt that York needed its own TB Hotel.

As with other Hotels, please only swap one for one.

The cache is easy to find in a quiet spot on a bridge over the railway, just off the A19, 2 miles NNW of York Ring Road (A1237) and 200 miles from Edinbrugh. Follow the sign for Overton from the Waypoint. It is also on Sustrans Route 65

The cache was relocated, after going missing, on the 10th April 2009 to N54'00.546 W001'09.374
To find the cache walk South from the top of the bridge, follow the metal barrier and wodden fence on the right until it runs out. The cache is behind the last concrete post. (see spoiler photos if needed)

We wish to acknowledge that this idea was prompted from the "One Degree of Separation" project. For more information on this project click this Link
