Peace of the Prairie Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions

This cache is located at Ahola Cemetery south of Wing, ND.
The Ahola Cemetery was founded on November 26, 1907 by early Finnish settlers on land donated by Herman Wallio. It was governed by the Finnish Lutheran Church until 1939 when it was incorporated separatedly. Since that time it has been maintained by the Ahola Cemetery Association.
This beautiful cemetery is the resting place of many local Finns as well as the descendents of original homesteaders. In order to be laid to rest here, you need to be of Finnish descent.
The 2008-2009 earth science class placed the cache as part of a class assignment. The cache is a cammoed tin can they painted themselves. Inside the can, the kids placed a fossil rock, golfball, compass, camel, pyrite, duck, Dragnet whistle, yoyo, Ahola Cemetery Centennial Button, and some coins.
Sit back on one of the many memorial benches and enjoy the peacefulness of the prairie.
