Short cache and dash along a footpath
When I was a child my father used to bring me up here on a Saturday morning to pick up our eggs and meat from the local farmers.
My father was a Croatian who came over here to live during the war. His English was not too bad, but he had a habit of merging words and sentences together, hence the cache name “Ianto’s Star”.
Ianto was the farmer who supplied our produce and Star was The Star Inn. So on Saturday morning the cry would go out, “lets go to Ianto’s Star”. I loved this morning trip as it meant I would be left on the bench outside The Star with a bag of crisps and a bottle of pop. My father would sit inside with his pint of beer and we would spend a few hours up here.
The cache itself is a short walk from the Star pub and it is worth popping back to the Star for a quick drink after doing the cache. The views from the cache site are stunning and the whole area is criss-crossed with footpaths which could make a good circular walk. On the way to the cache you may pass some farmers dogs in the next field they bark a lot but seem quite harmless. Happy caching!!
