Geocache Description:

A nice quick cache'n'dash on a section of the old A38.

Old A38 Revisited - Smithaleigh

Having done several of the 'Old A30 Revisited' series of caches, I thought I would place some on bypassed sections of the other major route into Cornwall - the A38.

The A38 is formally known as the Exeter to Leeds trunk road, although it actually runs from Bodmin in Cornwall (where it joins the A30) to Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, a distance of 292 miles (470 kilometres).

The section at Smithaleigh between Ivybridge and Plymouth is now used as a layby, so parking is available right by the cache.

The cache is only accessible from the west bound A38. You will need to take the off ramp signposted 'Services' by the Little Chef.
