Geocache Description:

Near the top of the Mt. Pasubio tunnel trail, at approximately 6300ft. ASL. Beautiful overlook, with two options of approach: a technical but historical foot path, or a rather short walk from a parking lot located at the top of the trail.

The cache is a small olive green tube (previously used for military flares) approximately 2 inches in diameter and 9 inches long, so items to be placed in cache should be rather small. The Monte Pasubio tunnel trail is a beautiful hike with breathtaking views and no motorized traffic, one of my favorite aspects of hikes these days. Be warned, the trail was engineered during World War 1 for military troops and their supplies, so the terrain is not always even, nor easily navigated. Flashlights are a must through some of the tunnels, and appropriate gear should be packed for various weather conditions along the route. However, a parking lot is located at the top of the trail next to a great restaurant for the trail weary traveler. The cache may be reached from this route as well, simply head down the trail from the top, it is only a short jaunt. Recommend items for the trail: rain gear, camera, water, hiking shoes, flashlights, basic hiking apparel. A group from Vicenza Outdoor Recreation will maintain this site and be visiting once a month at a minimum, so if there is an issue with cache or it's associated site, please let us know.
