One of the first things I noticed when I started geocaching is that there were no caches in and around my home town. My first cache here is a circular walk taking in some views and locations in Somerton. The total trip is about one mile - and an easy cache.
For a (nearly) cache and dash, park either at the fisheries or Cedar Grove, but you really will be missing out.
OR
Park in the Parish Rooms car park at N51 03.236 W002 43.724 and head North to N51 03.368 W002 43.628. Take the footpath downhill (still heading North), and off to the cache at the co-ordinates above.
Please note : When it's damp underfoot, the path down to the cache can be slippy, please take care. Beware of muggles with fishing rods! Please take care to hide the cache carefully so it's not easily visable from the path.
For a view to move house for, take a minute to walk East 100yds along the road overlooking the valley (Cedar Grove). For the return walk, head uphill from the cache, cross Cedar Grove and take the footpath straight ahead for 250yds (head for N51 03.361 W002 43.829). Turn right along the road (Behind Berry) for 80yds then turn left into King Ina Road. Carry on over the rail bridge and South through the car park to West Street. Turn left and you'll be back to the Square, the Buttercross, St Michaels Church and the Parish Rooms.
