An easy 15 minute walk to the cache from the Whale Bay carpark;
It's a lovely sheltered spot perfect for a swim. Bring your togs & a picnic!
There are picnic benches, shady pohutukawa trees, and toilets @ Whale Bay.

This Cache was Riser5s very first found cache that he Logged on: 28/12/2009.
Needing maintenance, I have replaced the container with a Thermos Food Flask whale.
Tucked in the higher root system and attached to a small root.
Climb carefully up the rocks and tree roots.

The newest addition to the whale family is medium sized. PLEASE re- attach well so it does not go swimming in a storm, and cover to hide from muggles. Thanks!
*note* 10/12/13 It is nice to see there is a new blue eye keeping watch over the carpark
but please do not leave valuables in your car, use care & do not leave Anything in sight for temptation
I've found parking at the south end of Woolley's Bay in full view of the baches, and the brief extra walk uphill is worth the small effort & peace of mind 
Or if you feel like a bit more of a workout, start from Matapouri.
There are plenty of places to park in Matapouri with beachside carparks at the ends of Morrison Rd & WehiWehi Rds, the latter has public toilets.
From Matapouri, the shortest way to Whale Bay is to take the track starting at Morrison Recreation Reserve S35° 33.778 E174° 30.184; If you feel like a longer walk with great sea views ( and another cache or 2 ) do the full loop, continuing along the headland track.
