This cache is located on the site of the worlds first aerodrome
and subsequently the first aircraft factory.
In May 1909 the first powered flight over British soil by a British
man was successfully undertaken from the field that you will have
to cross to locate the final cache. The photo above was taken when
the Wright Brothers visited the site a few days later and hangs on
the wall of the Manor House (with loads more historical information
about the early days of flight) that is an ideal place to park for
the 2nd waypoint.
For more historical information go to: www.muswellmanor.co.uk
There is a disposable camera in the box, please take a photo and
replace the camera back in the cache
When placed the box contained swaps of an aviation theme so why
not pop out, fire up the old crate and tally-ho! What! What!
The 1st waypoint:(N51 24.397 E000 51.452) is a monument
from which you need:
A is the number of Short Brothers
B is the number sculpted heads
C is the number of RNAS officers
D is the number of planes depicted on the right 'wing'
2nd Waypoint: (N51 2A.B05 E000 56.0CD) is another monument
stone from which you must walk almost 1/2 a mile to the final
cache. At this site you will need to find out:
E is the number of chimney pots on the manor house
F is the speed limit nearest to the monument stone
G is the number of windows in the roof of the South face of the
Manor House
Final Cache: (N51 2G.9F7 E000 55.EFE) is a regular sized
box that will easily accept swaps, travel bugs and geocoins.
***Parents of very young children should note that there is a creek
near the final cache that is easy to miss in the
foliage.***
