Geocache Description:

The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is commonly known as the Scottish Rite. It is one of several appendant groups of the worldwide fraternity known as Freemasonry. The local Scottish Rite organization is called a valley; which is itself divided into four bodies: Lodge of Perfection (4°-14°), Chapter of Rose Croix (15°-18°), Council of Knights Kadosh (19°-30°), and Consistory of Masters of the Royal Secret (31°-32°).

Breaking ground in 1930, on the corner of 39th and North Charles Street, the Scottish Rite Masonic Center stands alone on the highest elevation in this section of the city. Its unique architecture makes the Scottish Rite Masonic Center one of the most beautiful monumental buildings in the nation. Architect Clyde N. Friz, 33° designed the building along with consulting efforts from architect John Russell Pope.
