Read K1jy's log for this cache. You may be able to get to this
one. As of September 2011 the bike path along I-89 from Smith Pond
Rd Exit is badly damaged as described by a cacher:
"the entire stretch from Smith Pond Rd to Eastman Hill Rd could
be considered closed. I was able to bicycle the route, but there
are several places where there have been partial collapses of the
asphalt, one spot near Eastman Hill Rd where there is a 10 ft or so
diameter sink hole a foot or more deep encompassing the entire
path, and one spot that must have been a compete washout was
already filled with stone. In some places, there are orange cones
near the hazards, and in other places, not - so caution is advised.
The first bad spot is just north of your cache that I visited, so
one can easily get that far from Smith Pond Rd." So seek at your
own risk until the repairs are done. Watch your distance and arrow
while on the path and forget about the wander as you approach.
DO NOT LOOK for this one in the
winter with lots of snow &/or ice. You may destroy the cache if
you tug on something or poke with a hiking stick or ski
pole.. A small micro coin fits in this, but not
much else.
