Agnes Banks was named in 1804 by a grant of land to Andrew Thompson from Gov King.
Andrew Thompson ,an ex convict, who arrived in 1792 on the PITT, was givern a grant of land on the Hawkesbury. he made of the opportunities givern to emancipated convicts and accumulated a large fortune.
He eventually was made Cheif Constable, magistrate, farmer and buisnessman, involved in brewing and shipping.
In 1804 Gov King granted Andrew 278 acrs along the Nepean River. He named the property in memory of his mum.
Andrew concerned himself in flood rescues in the early 1800's which regrettably affected his health and led to a premature death in 1810 at the age of37years.
