in our disclaimer.
The inspiration for this cache came from hubby 'Buster,' after a family gathering of some very senior members of his family. We're not exactly teenagers, but after we left he said that we had just been to JURASSIC PARK.
***CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES. SOLVE THE PUZZLE FOR THE CORRECT COORDINATES.***
The name of this cache refers to the trivia questions, not to its location, although there is a bit of history noted there. (Look around for a marker.) The lovely facility remaining on part of the site has seen a lot of changes take place in this small community over the years. If you are there during open hours, you are welcome to visit. Permission was given to place this cache on the property. (The cache is not on any residential property.)
Because of nearby homes, there are likely to be unseen muggles, and the area seems to be well patrolled by law enforcement. Try to park so that your vehicle blocks the view. Wheelchair accessible except for the retrieval. Easy find once the puzzle is solved.
Most of the information needed for this puzzle is specific for Newnan and Coweta County, Georgia. (See note below.) While only one or two of the clues go back to the Jurassic Period, the others are close enough.
To solve this puzzle, you might need to dig for answers locally, actually talk with a dinosaur (or perhaps a boomer with a good memory) instead of just asking Dell. Step away from the computer, go visit Great-Gramps and Noonie, and ask for their help. Afterwards, take them one of the swag items and visit awhile.
Alphabet grid, 5x5, +1. Convert each letter of the answer to a number, then add. OK to email for verification of coords if you'd like.
1. When Newnan first went to 7-digit phone numbers, there was only one alpha-numeric phone exchange. The two letters in it came from which word? Use only the last two letters of that word.
2. What animal used to keep watch over Temple Avenue in Newnan, near Bonnell St.? Use only the first letter.
3. A small shopping center used to be located at the site of the present Coweta County Justice Center. What animal was represented in the logo of the grocery store that was there in the 1960's? Use only the first and last letters.
4. Of the high schools in Coweta County in the mid-1950's, two of them were basketball rivals, the purple and the blue. What was the mascot of the blue at that time? Use only the first three letters.
5. When Elvis got all shook up, his friends said he was acting wild as a what? Use the first two letters only. (Too easy!)
6. Georgia Power Co., among others, used to use a cute little advertising fellow with a sparkling personality. What was his name? Use his two initials only.
7. One of the small communities based around textile plants located between Newnan and the Chattahoochee River was named for which two Newnan families? Use the last two letters of each family name.
8. The ancestors of the iPod usually displayed a selection of three numbers. Add them and use the total.
Total of answers 1-4, plus 4801 = xxxx
Total of answers 5-8, plus 952 = yyyy

Please note: This puzzle is not meant to exclude non-local cachers. Please contact busternfruss through our profile page for additional hints or even "Cliff notes" if needed, but do go chat with Gramps anyway. Likewise, there may be local cachers who can figure out the general location and find the cache without solving the puzzle. That's OK, but it would be missing the point on this one. The intent is to encourage those who are fortunate enough to still have Jurassic-era family members and friends to go visit with them. They have a lot of wisdom to share, much more than the trivia here.
***Extra clues (hints only) and/or the "Cliff notes" (spoilers) are available from us for anyone who gets stuck. But if you're local, you may know someone who can give you most of the answers right away!
Hint #2 below contains some great local history and was used as one resource. But go visit Noonie first; it may be hard to find a copy.
Small appropriate prize plus unactivated trackable for FTF.
Releasing TB "Noonie's Curling Iron" for travel.
***Congrats to FarmerBC & SusBen for co-FTF!***
Raising the difficulty rating a star after receiving several emails about it, and noting the time and effort taken by puzzle solvers. Easier for some, harder for others. . .
