This is our FIRST cache to place and we're SOOOO excited! We love
to geocache with our children, so we made this cache kid-friendly.
Our kids put this cache together, decorated the container, and we
filled it with goodies! Inside are small froggy tributes to
Geocaching.com's hard working mascot, Signal. It's located in a
populated area, along side a road. The hiding site really reflects
its name, which I'm sure you'll agree. We've camouflaged the cache
a bit, so look carefully!
Please keep the traded items small, so that everything will fit
inside the cache. Also, please sign the log book (and leave the pen
we placed, so that everyone can sign). The FTF treasure is really
nifty, so happy caching!
CAUTION: The abandoned gas station next to the cache site
is a great place to park; however, you need to be careful. There is
some broken glass in the area. We don't want anyone to get hurt.
Closed shoes are best...NO flip flops.
Let us know if you like our cache! We sure enjoyed scouting
sites to place it!
Addendum on 10/2/08: Please keep in mind, this
site is in a residential area. There is a small motel next door and
houses across the street from the site. I've noticed from other
cachers' logs AND from my own experiences, that there are probably
going to be people looking out of their windows due to curiosity.
It's going from a place of not much foot/car traffic, to an
elevated rate. Please, if asked what you're doing, direct them to
Geocaching.com. This is really the only issue I can see, besides a
little broken glass. Also, the owner of the lot with the abandoned
gas station has posted "No Trespassing" signs. No worries,
though...you can park on the other side (and avoid some broken
glass!). Happy caching and thanks!
Addendum on 3/5/10: Due to the cache getting
destroyed and/or stolen, I've taken more drastic measures. I
believe that my cache container keeps getting destroyed by weed
eaters that state ground crews are running (except for it getting
stolen once before, as well). I've purchased an appropriately
camouflaged, specialty container from Geocaching's store. It's
durable and blends into its surroundings. I cleaned up the remnants
of my former cache container and the log pieces (yay CITO!). Please
enjoy my improved cache! Vive la cache!
