Geocache Description:

The Cache is near the dive side Bluff Point

Lighthouse N27 40.850 E033 48.420
Kebira ( Big Gobal ) and Seghira ( Little Gobal ) are 2 islands on the western side of the Stait
of Gobal at the mouth of the Suez Canal. Bluff Point, on Little Gobal, marks theexit and entrance to
the gulf with an automatic lighthouse powered by solar panels.

Divers enter the water from a boat anchored in the shelter of the great bay and follow the
coastal reef on the right out to the point. The maximum depth of 115 feet (35 meters) is
reached under the ilghthouse. There is a remarkabele proliferation of hard and soft corals
just under the surface, with little grottoes populated by small coral fich, and numerous
black corals (Antipatharia) grow 80 feet (25 meters) down on the wall of Bluff Point.
Sea turtles come here to hunt the small crustaceans and mollusks on the reef and
to lay their eggs on the island in the spring. You will probably see some bottlenose
dolphins, members of a large school that lives permanently off the Gobal Island.

There is the wreck of a hull, probably from an Egyptian gunboat that went down during
the War of Independence, at 65 feet (20 meters) under the center of the bay. This makes
a great night dive-red and orange soft corals hang from the ship's structures and you can
see moray eels, scorpionfish. lionfish, nudibranche, and crinoids. Another wreck, badly
damaged and covered with corals, lies 980 feet (300 meters) beyond the lighthouse on the
northern side of the island. This treighter was carrying electrical material when it sank,
and is now home to some of the reef's plentiful fauna.

Sha'ab Abu Nuhas : Wreck of the Carnatic and Ghiannis D

The great reef of Sha'ab Abu Nuhas emerges 2 mies (3.5 kilometers) nort of Shadwan Island
at the mouth of the Strait of Gobal. A menace to navigation, the reef is infamous among
sailors and celebrated by scuba divers. There are no fewer than 7 sunken shibs from
different eras on the seabeds, the Carnatic and the Ghiannis D. beind the most intriguing
