Roadside cache.
The missus and I were speeding along on a cache run and stopped
here to look at some deer going across the road. It was fairly safe
for them and us as the visibility was good and parking was okay.
Might be best during the day.
Just off of the road quite near to a 12" diameter Alnus Rubrus. I
make quite a few of my walking sticks from saplings of this same
tree! Cache is near a small clumpy bush along the fence line.
Alnus Rubrus is known as Red Alder and sometimes Oregon Alder. The
first because fresh cuts show the red inner bark and the latter
because the tree is indiginous within a few hundred miles of the
pacific from Alaska through Oregon to California.
Watch for deer! We saw at least three.
