An easy walk across arable farmland but not suitable for push or wheelchairs.
Skipsea is situated along the B1249 the Village is a typical rural setting surrounded by rich agricultural land and yet sits close to the cliffs and the North Sea.
Many of the houses in the Village both new and old, use cobbles from the sea shore in both brickwork on the house exterior as well as for decorative purposes in brick walls around gardens etc.
An impressive Norman motte and bailey castle, dating from before 1086 and among the first raised in Yorkshire, with the earthworks of an attendant fortified 'borough'.
A ghost, of very ancient date, the wife of Drugo de Brueres, murdered by her husband, in the reign of William the Conqueror, is said to haunt to this day.
On the way to the Cache there are splendid views of the church which sits beside what was once Skipsea Castle.
