The size is really more like mini. You are looking for an
altoids tin size container. The hide is in a location that has a
moderate muggle factor. However, its positioning is such that, with
a modicum of acting, you can retrieve, sign and surreptitiously
return the cache under their noses.
This cache replaces BIT VII which has disappeared one too many
times. Since the location has moved slightly and the hide type is
different, we invite our friends back to see Sailor's "jail".
Starting very young, Sailor, who did not like even short
separations from his ''pack'', learned how to get over the backyard
fence. He didn't go anywhere, just moving to the front porch, but
this wasn't tolerable. Thus began an epic struggle between Mr.
Codger and Sailor where the fence got higher, Sailor would find a
weak spot, Mr. Codger fixes, Sailor finds another, and on and on
for years. The fence had all sorts of odd additions and things
jutting out. A neighbor saw Sailor acting like a squirrel once and
walking along the top of the fence.
One 4th of July the Codgers were out, and Sailor, probably egged
on by the explosions, got out and disappeared. After several hours
he was found a couple of miles away at the Softball Complex.
Another time he was left overnight and it took us a week to find
him half a mile away in a parking area.
Needless to say, he couldn't be left at the house without a
caretaker when the Codgers went away. Originally we had a place
very close to kennel him, but he escaped the very first time and
made it back home just as we were getting ready to leave on a
week's trip by plane. He got switched to this facility which has
more security. He was categorized as an escape artist and they had
to use clips on the latches or he would get out. We referred to it
as putting him in jail. He prefered not to be there. Hence the name
"Sailor's Bane".
By the way this has been our vet and pet boarder since we came
here and we highly recommend it for those with furry
friends.
