After witnessing some of Deseret Towers being built, then living in them in 1971 and then watching them come down; it seemed this would be a perfect place for me to hide my “first” cache. Five of the Towers were completed in 1964 and housed single students. Towers S, T, U housed male students. Q and R housed female students. In 1969 V hall was completed. I lived in U hall in 1971 and loved the view south from my 7th floor room. Then in 1978 W hall was completed. At that time S, T, U became women’s halls and Q, R, V, and W became men’s halls. With codes changing and more and more students having computers, small refrigerators, and other electronics in their rooms, it was determined Deseret Towers needed electrical and seismic upgrades. In 2005, it was decided that the cost of the upgrades did not make it feasible to maintain the Towers and they were taken down over the next two years.
**Due to the construction of new housing, the tree is now fenced off. The cache container has been moved outside the fence. New coords are: N 40 15.290 W 111 38.622
Please watch for muggles. There is plenty of near by parking.
