As many of the local cachers know, I get out to Hawaii on a fairly
regular basis for work. I try to get out caching while there every
chance I get. Hawaii is now my 3rd most cached in state (behind
Rhode Island and Virginia). I have gotten to know many of the local
cachers (the geohana), and they have taken me on some great caching
adventures.
So, for those that can't make it out to Hawaii, I decided to
bring a little of the Aloha spirit to you. I have worked closely
with SillyGirl and JRR in order to make the experience as
fullfilling and realistic as possible.
Enjoy the relatively short and easy walk to the cache, and when
you find the cache, imagine you're relaxing on the white sand
beaches of Waikiki, a Pina Colada or Mai Tai in hand, and Diamond
Head off in the distance. Visualize a fiery sunset, silhouetting
the surfers as they ride the day's final wave. See the hips of the
hula dancer swaying in the tiki torch light to the rhythmic sound
of the local music.
Now snap back to reality, realize you're in New England, it's 30
degrees out, and the closest you'll get to Hawaii is this cache.
Now sign the log, and move along.
You can park near the boat launch. The hardest part of the 250'
walk is the initial hill. Please hide the cache back as you found
it, and make it doesn't go too far in.
