Near to summit of Ashurst Hill at Ashurst Beacon. Some steepish ground but good paths. Only a few minutes from the parking area.
The parish of Dalton comprises a ridge of high land with its north east slopes facing the River Douglas. The highest point of the ridge, Ashurst Hill (174m) commands splendid views of the surrounding countryside for many miles.
On its summit stands the prominent landmark of Ashurst Beacon which was erected at the time of the Napoleonic Wars. This was part of a chain of signalling beacons. The cache is in the area near to the Centenary Stone which indicates local and distant landmarks.
The cache is a 470ml Klip and Lock box so it will hold small trackables. It is in the woods below the Centenary Stone approximately in the direction of Blackpool Tower.
Parking is available at N 53°.33.826, W 002°.45.347 and there is a Visitor Centre and a number of other nearby caches at Beacon Country Park.
