The coordinates above are not the location of the cache, but
rather the location of a convenient marker to start our bicycle
race. The cache is actually hidden in a park not too far away. To
get the actual location of the cache, you must solve the following
logic problem...
Four friends had a bicycle race. Unfortunately, you weren't
there to see it, however, the participants were very excited about
it and told you the following facts from which you can piece
together what happened :
- Josh rode the yellow bike.
- The rider with the black shirt didn't come second
- The rider who rode the blue bike wasn't wearing the orange
shirt
- The rider who rode the green bike wore the white shirt
- Josh didn't wear the black shirt
- The rider who came fourth rode the red bike
- The rider with the orange shirt didn't come third.
- Jenny came first, but she wasn't wearing the black shirt
- Jill wore the orange shirt
- The rider who wore the purple shirt didn't come
fourth.
- The orange shirt had the number 237 on it
- The black shirt had the number 614 on it
- The purple shirt had the number 708 on it
- The white shirt had the number 532 on it
- The blue bike had the number 831 on it
- The red bike had the number 956 on it
- The green bike had the number 274 on it
- The yellow bike had the number 475 on it
- John's helmet had the number 157 on it
- Jill's helmet had the number 780 on it
- Josh's helmet had the number 394 on it
- Jenny's helmet had the number 682 on it
You will need to work out the position each rider came in the
race, what colour bike they were riding and what colour shirt they
wore. Once you have this information, you can find the cache at the
following coordinates:-

where
A = the third digit of the number on the shirt of the rider who
came fourth
B = the second digit on the helmet of the rider who wore the
black shirt
C = the third digit on the bike of the rider who came third
D = the third digit on the bike of the rider who came second
E = the first digit of the number on Jenny's bike
F = the first digit of the number on the Josh's shirt
The cache is a small black plastic cylinder with a screw top lid
(about 12 cm long and 5 cm across). It contains a log book, pen and
a few micro-swaps. The swap items are very small (marble, dice,
eraser etc) as not much else will fit into the container. Please
replace the cache carefully as the kids who play in this park don't
mind digging around and getting dirty.
