4/22/12 We placed a new container in a slightly different location than the original cache. The area that the original cache was in is no longer above water!
As of 10/27/11, I upgraded the terrain to a 3. The landscaping has changed quite a bit, making this a bit more challenging terrain-wise.
This is a kid-friendly regular to large cache (mostly paved trail with the last 50-100 feet or so with a steep incline on unpaved terrain) in a lovely park in Pittsfield Township. Just a short time ago, this was an abandoned quarry.
No play equipment here, but nice, paved walking trails and picnic tables! Bring your fishing pole and picnic basket if you have time...
A little history about this land: The land patent (sale of land from the government to private ownership) for this land was transacted on September 1, 1825 to Mr. David Hardy of New Hampshire, and signed by President John Quincy Adams. It was subsequently owned by Sarah Terhune, Peter Earl, Dr. Foster, L. Harrison, Robert Harrison, and at some point after 1939 was sold and quarried.
Ownership information is from the Pittsfield Township Historical Society Plat Maps web page.
