This cache is placed on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth within
the Kraggakamma Game Park. This coastal forest and grassland is
home to herds of African game, including Rhino, Buffalo, Cheetah,
Giraffe, Zebra, Nyala, Lechwe and more.
For an entrance fee of R45 per adult and R20 per child you can
take a drive in your own vehicle through the park (no need for 4x4)
and enjoy viewing the game. There is also the option of a 2 hour
guided tour in an open Landrover with a professional guide. The
park is open daily from 08:00 to 17:00. There is a restaurant,
picnic area and braai facilities.
The cache is hidden close (+-12m) to the footpath that leads
from the parking area to the restaurant. When you follow this path
you will see a camp which is the home to Duma, our own movie star!
He starred in the film called ‘Duma’ which is a beautiful story of
a young boy and his best friend – Duma the tame cheetah. After his
life on the set Duma was on his way to a Zoo in Cincinnati, USA,
where he would have lived in a small cage. The owner of Kraggakamma
heard of the poor animal, bought him from the Zoo and brought him
home to Kraggakamma Game Park. Because this animal is as tame as a
housecat he won’t ever be able to fend for himself in the wild
after he was raised by humans and thus have to stay in his own
camp. For an extra R30 you can enter the cage of Duma with a guide.
You can pet Duma and take a photo of you and this big cat. You must
hear him purr!
The cache is a 2L icecream tub. Watch out for muggles since the
cache is close to the footpath and the area is visible from the
parking area. Marked with 4m accuracy.
