Seek2FindMe: Mel's Chicken Pot Pie was hatched in September 2008. It was one of my earliest hides with less than a year of found logs under my belt. What? No DNF logs ... cause I was too embarrassed to admit failure to find, and didn't understand how those logs help a CO to know the health of their caches. I've learned a lot in 16 years.
Isn't it funny when Life actually somewhat imitates a Cache? Originally this was a semi-true tall tale of a story, placed next to Marie Callendar's, as a birthday gift for Mel.
Mel's bird, Chicken Pot Pie, left his coop a long time ago. He was cantankerous to the end, a tough and spicy bit o' morsel. Hmmmmm ..........
The famous sister, Pot Pie Maker in the story (Marie), is an amalgamation of 3 real "maries" in Mel's life. True Bio-sister doesn't bake pot pies any more. She does keep Mel busy and on her toes, and you never know what is going to come out of her squawking beak. She retired her axe but maintains a sharp enough tongue to keep us looking over our shoulders. Sisters!!! Coop mates for life.
The other pot pie maker's kitchen closed down. In our imaginations that resulted in her leaving the heat of the kitchen for the freezer aisles in the grocery stores. Wish I could use that gift card we had for the restaurant at the grocery store now! Another marie flown to coops unknown.
The third Marie continues to be a partner in the crime of having fun with Mel and the bio-sister part of Marie. For the past year it is from a land far far away. Coincidentally almost a year to the date Mel's wings will take her to a better place than under a bush covering a tupperware container.
For 15 years we celebrate Mel's survival of those days of hiding in the bushes with reading the logs and remembering how geocachers made us smile together ... and they didn't even know it. Now you do. Thank you!!!!
... and with that it seems now is the time to let the new hatchlings in geocaching have the room to grow and wings to spread their creativity near and far. Have at it! Make me proud!
so long, Mel's Chicken Pot Pie. You have been deliciously delightfully the source of years of smiles and love. I have loved every minute of it more than you will ever know.
